Bulldozer operator training involves 5 to 10 days of combined Accredited programs (such as TETA or CETA) will teach you site safety, daily maintenance, and how to master machine controls for grading and leveling.
Training Overview & Course Structure
Beginner and advanced courses are tailored to your current skill level, whether you have never operated heavy machinery or you simply need to upgrade your license.
Basic modules typically include:
- Pre-start inspections: Walking around the machine to check for broken parts, track tension, and fluid levels.
- Safety procedures: Learning the operation of ROPS (Roll-Over Protective Structures) and safe cabin entry/exit.
- Operating functions: Understanding tracked controls, blade positioning (pitch and swivel), and terrain grading.
- Shut-down and transport: Proper parking and loading of heavy equipment.
CertificationUpon successful completion of the theoretical exam and closed-site practical evaluation, you will be issued a valid operator certificate and license (often aligning with NQF Level 2 or Level 5 requirements). Most facilities require that you already hold a valid driver’s license before enrolling.
